Figure A--Put together a flower arrangement in the colors of his favorite sports team. Any flowers would do, and there are many exciting possible combinations. Add a team pennant for flair.

Figure B--Father's Day is barbecue season, so why not put together some barbecue herbs in an arrangement? Strategically place chives, basil, thyme and rosemary sprigs throughout a small pot. Complement the herbs with roses and ornamental grasses. Throw in some new barbecue tools as a surprise gift.

Figure C--Dad is sure to be hitting the golf course this time of year, so celebrate the theme with a golf-inspired arrangement. Golf is wonderful under the sun, so include sunflowers and fill the clear glass vase with golf tees. The more colorful the tees, the better it will look.

Figure D--Take the golf theme (or any sports theme) further by creating this neat display with grass and figurines. A party store carries little amendments to enhance displays. The next image explains how to do it.

Figure E--Fill a bowl with moist wood chips and make sure there is plenty of water in the bowl. Purchase a piece of sod from your local plant nursery and fit the sod into the bowl. Clip the grass with scissors, then line the perimeter with a stiff-stemmed flower. Doing an arrangement like this for the man in your life is a personal statement that really shows that you care about his passions.

Figure F--A galvanized planter with some leafy houseplants makes a great indoor garden. The clean, metallic look is a strong decorative piece for an office or work area. Toss in a few garden tools as a gift.
