Q&A: Planting

Grow It! : Episode GRW-209 -- More Projects »
What can you plant when your garden is full?

If a garden seems to be too full to accommodate any more plants, consider using vertical space. For instance, try planting annual vines (such as morning glories) at the bases of other plants. The stems will grow upward and twist around the support plant, adding color and drama to the garden.

These plants are the perfect addition to a full garden, since they reseed themselves each year and don't take up ground space. Be sure to choose only annual vines, however; perennial vines may swallow host plants that aren't particularly strong.
