Grow your own rosemary at home. Find out how below.
TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham provides tips for storing, cooking with and growing rosemary.
  • To grow rosemary at home, be sure the plant has good drainage. Rosemary likes to be moist all the time, but hates sitting in water. An easy way to achieve this is to water the plants in the sink and let drain. Place the pot in a larger pot filled with gravel to catch any extra water. Rosemary needs to be watered daily.

  • Rosemary likes humidity and sun.

  • To harvest rosemary, simply snip off the amount of foliage you need.

  • Drop rosemary foliage in two cups of boiling water on the stove and leave for a few minutes. Cool and drain the water into a spray bottle and use for cleaning the bathroom.

  • Steam red potatoes with one tablespoon of fresh rosemary. Add butter, if you prefer, and serve.

  • Substitute one tablespoon fresh rosemary leaves with one teaspoon dried rosemary.

  • Rosemary is used in many pork, fish, and chicken dishes.

  • Prune rosemary plants evenly.

  • Tie sprigs of rosemary together and hang in a closet to dry, or hang in a linen closet.

  • Crush dry rosemary leaves with a mortar and pestle. Transfer to a clean herb bottle.
