Kennebunkport

Secret Gardens Of... : Episode SGO-610 -- More Projects »
In the episode, we visit four gardens in Kennebunkport, Maine. Dick and Edie Lambert 's garden is designed to take advantage of the harbor that lies near the back of the property. A rustic arbor that was once an unsightly pole used for a clothesline is now the focal point of the garden. The garden produces rhubarb, which is made into pie, as well as rose hips that make jam. Andrea Irvine's garden is located high on a hill just a block from former President George W. Bush's compound. Captain's Hideaway Garden surrounds a historic home built in 1799 by a sea captain. The romantic garden is filled with reflecting balls and charming statues. A small, rocky pond reminds visitors of Kennebunkport's rugged coastline. Celia Thaxter's garden is hidden 10 miles off the coast of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It was started more than 100 years ago by poet Celia Thaxter. The small historic garden lies completely enclosed behind a rustic wood fence. Beautiful views of the ocean lie behind old-fashioned flowers .
