Palm Beach County

Secret Gardens Of... : Episode SGO-608 -- More Projects »
In this episode we visit four gardens in Palm Beach County. Gene Joyner has created a jungle wonderland. A 100-foot canopy that includes giant bamboo surrounds and envelopes the home. What was once a 2.5-acre cow pasture now resembles the rain forest of Costa Rica. The Horticultural Society of South Florida shares a garden with its neighbor , the Eaton Gallery. Gardens surround a 1926 Spanish Revival building--a prime example of South Florida architecture. A ficus hedge leads to another surprise--a gallery garden where sculptures reach towards the sky and cloistered gardens hide near the art. A sculpture of a chablis glass spills red and white impatiens. The third stop is at the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden, where lush foliage forms the backdrop for dramatic sculptures. The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center features boardwalks that float through the forest and a 40-foot tower that ascends into the canopy.
