Bar Harbor

In this episode, we visit four gardens in Bar Harbor, Maine. Willowbrook is the creation of two garden artists who also built a charming playhouse for young visitors. In the midst of town, a 19th- century home at Mira Monte Inn features a colorful garden delight. Soaring hollyhocks reach 10 feet high. Next, nestled in the spectacular scenery of Acadia National Park, the Wild Gardens of Acadia mimics the inhabitants that make up the park. The garden at Woodlawn Estate surrounds a historic home built in the 1880s by a local tycoon. A tea garden--used since the 1930s--offers a glimpse into the history of the area.
