Niagara Falls
Secret Gardens Of... : Episode SGO-507 -- More Projects » In this episode, we visit four gardens in Niagara Falls. The Butterfly Conservatory is hidden behind a large floral clock at the Niagara Parks Botanical Garden and is only minutes away from the falls. Stately cedar hedges are sculpted around courtyards, and the Victorian rose garden is one of the largest in North America. Thousands of butterflies are sheltered in the warm, humid environment inside the conservatory. At Mary Alice Eckert's garden, a fountain mimics the surging water of Niagara Falls nearby. There are dragon-winged begonias, cinnamon ferns and fanciful forms in this garden of shapes. The Oaks Garden Theatre, adjacent to Niagara Falls, has formal and informal water features. Linden trees are planted close together to obscure the noise of the outside world. Behind a set of pavilions, a peaceful rock-and-water garden features a small waterfall, bridge and goldfish. Camile Heim's garden is located on a historic street where all the houses are white with black shutters. Patriotic waves of color surround the front porch and hang from flower baskets and a white picket fence hides savory vegetables.
