Romer Garden

Vazques-Klammrodt Garden

Reinhard Klammrodt and Marilena Vazquez have fashioned a remarkable garden made up of unusual plants from around the world. When this couple travels, they bring back more than just memories and souvenirs; they return with ideas for their stunning garden. Black mondo grass blossoms alongside vibrant hibiscus while Australian tree ferns grow among flowers called kangaroo paws. The water garden features tropical varieties like the water canna, which thrives in the summer but must be stored in a greenhouse in order to survive the chilly Canadian winters.

Romer Garden

Five generations of Canadian politicians have lived in Therese Romer's historic home, but attention to worldly affairs falls away in the tranquility of a garden designed for relaxation. Two days a week visitors are invited beyond the gated entrance and into the welcoming embrace of floating blue hydrangeas and the delicate pink blossoms of the obedient plant (Physostegia virginiana). Moving farther away from the house, the journey becomes a walk on the wild side with wildflowers giving way to ancient stones which a parish priest once used as a pathway to a historic church located across the river.

La Belle Rivere

Miral Garden

Henriette Miral's garden is filled with the beauty and passion of French painter Claude Monet. Eight acres of picture-perfect blossoms are laid out in broad strokes of color. Benches are tucked in secluded spaces and a formal French garden is painted with white sedums. A pond is crossed by a graceful bridge and across an open field, and an Asian garden features rows of leafy hostas. This French-Canadian paradise is a masterpiece that even Monet would enjoy.

La Belle Rivere

La Belle Rivere translates into "forest of the beautiful river" and it is the trees that shine in this heavenly spot. This public park, located just 30 minutes from the busy streets of Montreal, is home to nearly 100 species of lofty trees. The park is a popular spot for weekend gatherings since the large open areas are perfect for social settings. An old sugar shack offers samples of maple taffy and syrup, a gift from the towering trees overhead.
