The Club Continental Garden

This stunning Florida estate once served as the winter getaway for the Palmolive soap family. Hidden from tourists and even long-time residents, the garden became a standout once its secrets were discovered. Midday shadows point the way to a rippling brook and pool. Hicks Garden

Hicks Garden

Childhood memories are given new life in Ann Hicks's garden. For years Ann dreamed of creating a garden on land adjacent to her girlhood home. When the property became available, Ann didn't hesitate to buy it. Resplendent with pansies and primroses, the garden extends to the banks of the St. Johns River. In the distance visitors can see the Jacksonville skyline.

Cummer Garden

The grounds outside the Cummer Art Museum are an original work of art. Planted and nurtured in 1903 by Ninah Cummer, the garden remains unchanged almost 100 years later. English and Italian gardens give way to a putting green--believed to be the first among private gardens in the state.

Baker Garden

Baker Garden

To Ann Baker, three gardens are better than one. The rose garden, which Ann planted first, showcases Granada roses--a tribute to Ann's father-in-law, who particularly liked their delicate blooms. Another garden is a study in white. The third and central garden features the Shimmering Maiden, a sculpture by Malvina Hoffman, a protege of Rodin.
