Fort Worth Botanic Garden
Fort Worth, Texas
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is the oldest botanic garden in the state of Texas. Spread over 109 acres, the garden offers a stunning rose garden, a topiary cattle drive and a meditative retreat in the Japanese garden. To escape the Texas sun, visitors can tour the tropical delights inside the conservatory. Morris Arboretum
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
At the Morris Arboretum, stress melts away among romantic English landscapes. This garden is a result of a brother and sister's love of horticulture that left a blossoming legacy. The Victorian fernery boasts more than 200 varieties of ferns, including one that looks like the paw of a teddy bear. A 200-year-old oak tree is kept safe from lightning with a half-dozen lightning rods in the crown of its canopy. Tohono Chul Park
Tucson, Arizona
To the half-million people who live in Tucson, Arizona, a landscape of rippling heat waves and prickly thorns is called home. At Tohono Chul, visitors can see that the desert landscape doesn't have to be barren. Mexican sunflowers, cactus and hummingbirds brighten this unusual garden. Another must-see: a wall of fossilized animals that existed when this land was covered in water.
