Handheld pruners, loppers, bow saws and other manual pruners are fine most of the time. But what if you’ve got a pruning project that goes beyond the reach of those tools—and your arms?
Long reach pole pruners come in very handy for this type of pruning. They extend from eight to 21 feet so they can get where you need to go. Many have different size blades to accommodate different size jobs.

For even faster cutting use an electric chainsaw. There are many types available and most cut good size branches or logs with ease. They’re much lighter than comparable gas-powered chainsaws, and most are packed with safety features that help prevent kickback and accidental shock. For safety's sake, be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.

Electric powered pruners on an extension can reach way up into trees and slice through branches with relative ease. Some power pruners also come with attachments--for instance, a line trimmer that also has an edger and hedge trimming attachment available to make quick work of gardening chores.
