Overwatering
If the lower leaves are turning yellow, the plant is likely being overwatered. If leaves are showing the same signs all over the plant, it could also be due to poor drainage or being chilled.

Overwatering is a common problem, particularly with houseplants. There are several problems, including root or stem rot, that come as a direct result of overwatering. To remedy this, make sure that there is proper drainage. Always check the soil to see whether the plant is dry before watering. Once water has drained through, empty the drainage saucer; don't let plants sit in standing water.
