Leaf Scorch
Why are the leaves of this sago palm turning yellow? It's difficult to tell whether it's the result of chlorosis (a nitrogen deficiency), a viral disease or some other problem. The only way to know for certain what's causing this particular plant problem is through the process of elimination. James fertilizes the palm often, so he knows it's not suffering from a lack of nitrogen. He doesn't think that it's succumbing to any diseases because the yellowing appears on one side of the plant rather than all over it. The palm did spend months indoors under moderate light before being set outside, so the leaves are having a tough time adjusting to the intense light of the sun, and this has caused the leaves to turn. The leaves that aren't exposed to direct sunlight but have their backs to the sun look fine. In time (as soon as the plant adjusts to the sunlight) the leaves will return to their natural state.
