Paul's Twin Ponds

Gardening by the Yard : Episode GBY-520 -- More Projects »
Q: We never saw the finishing touches you put on your twin ponds. Can we see them now?

A: Paul James added a few glacier stones and tweaked the waterfalls of both ponds to get the look and sound he wanted. The ponds are too shallow for fish, and Paul hasn't added water plants because he wanted to achieve the serene look of a glacier pool. His problem with algae in both ponds has been easily remedied by tossing in a small chlorine tablet used for swimming pools. Every couple of months has been often enough. He has also prevented mosquitoes by throwing in a BT tablet, a doughnut-shaped briquette containing the Bacillus thuringiensis microbe that is deadly to mosquito larvae.
