Despite the good intentions of almost every gardener, houseplants and outdoor plants sometimes fall victim to powdery mildew and other plant diseases. Here, host John Cretti shares an easy homemade recipe for eliminating these problems, and also discusses which plants are more susceptible to disease in general.

Materials

  • vegetable oil
  • baking soda
  • quart of water
  • spoon
  • spray bottle

Steps

  • Dissolve one teaspoon of baking soda into a quart of water.
  • Add a few drops of vegetable oil.
  • Shake thoroughly to emulsify.
  • Pour the solution in a spray bottle and apply directly to infected plant leaves.
