Q&A: Stone Wall

Grow It! : Episode GRW-402 -- More Projects »
How can I soften the appearance of a stone wall?

It's easy to achieve a soft, flowing look by placing drought-tolerant succulents in the nooks and crannies of a wall. Begin by placing a good soil mix (or compost) into a crack in the wall. Next, wet the roots of the plant and pack it into the hole, making sure it is firmly secured in the soil. Use green moss around the plant to help hold the soil in place and keep rain from washing it away. The moss will also help the plant retain moisture.
