Newlyweds get a surprise backyard makeover that captures their minimal style.

Before: Jared and Carrie Libitsky are newlyweds who don't have a lot of time to work on their backyard, but do like to have lots of company. They think their patio is too small and needs more furniture and greenery for an inviting entertaining atmosphere.

After: Lots of teak furniture provides the extra seating this couple needs for their frequent gatherings, while the simple color palette and accessories capture their uncluttered and organized style.

Before: This table isn't meant to be outdoors and is too small for the amount of guests who often visit. The neighbor's fence is wobbly and not very attractive so that also needs to be addressed in the makeover.

After: A lounge area with an outdoor fireplace based in hardened decomposed granite "enlarges" the patio by adding more seating close to the table. A new deck section next to the upgraded fence facing provides space for a bar fronted with sanded Plexiglas that will light up at night from behind.

Staple outdoor fabric over plywood squares, and then screw them together in any arrangement you desire for easy contemporary artwork.
