Before: Kimberly Newhart travels all week and her fiancé, David Borrego, would like to surprise her with a relaxing backyard to come home to. Unfortunately, the vast amount of brick and concrete in the space isn't very inviting so they'd like to soften the entire area.

After: Shade cloth on the pergola diffuses the sunlight, making the area underneath more pleasant. Painted stucco over the pillars and a wooden platform disguise some brick, while a sculpture garden with a central fountain provides another focal point.

Before: This massive brick and concrete patio doesn't have anything that makes it comfortable or inviting. It's a great space, but far too monochromatic and the cooking/entertaining area is just screaming for attention.

After: New furniture, a gleaming grill and tiled countertops with more of the stucco treatment over all the brick completely change the look of this outdoor kitchen area.
David Borrego and his fiancée, Kimberly Newhart, would like to have cookouts and wine tastings in their backyard, however, the abundance of red brick and concrete make the space uninviting. Borrego calls upon the expertise of host Susie Coelho and the Outer Spaces team to turn their brick-infested patio into a relaxing outdoor entertaining area as a surprise for Newhart. Architect Rick D'Amato's plan calls for rehabbing an unused outdoor kitchen and adding stucco to the pergola area.
