After: Fun for Everyone
Stacey and Jonathan opted for a deluxe play structure – complete with climbing wall – that will keep Miles occupied for years to come. Thanks to the extended patio and roomy barbecue area, it will be easy to keep an eye on him and his playmates. The remote-control waterfall provides a soothing background noise to counter the city sounds. Since it's pondless, the waterfall will be safe for Miles and the new baby. A Japanese cutleaf red maple (Acer palmatum 'Dissectum') shades the top of the waterfall, which is softened by plants including a liriope (Liriope muscari 'Variegata') that brings forth small purple flowers in summer. Two 'Emerald Green' arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Emerald Green') frame the back wall, while a dwarf Alberta spruce (Picea glauca 'Conica') pruned in a spiral topiary punctuates the barbecue area. A new cedar fence and a coat of paint on the back wall complete the effect.
