Pete replaced the crumbling concrete with a brick patio laid in a classic herringbone pattern at an angle to the house. Wood latticework walls off the area under the stairs for out-of-the-way storage, and a concrete bench provides a shady place to relax. The colorful tiles Stacey picked to top the bench were imported from Spain, as were the tiles topping the countertop by the grill.
