Barbecue Haven

A Texas couple wants space to cook up some grownup fun.

Landscapers' Challenge : Episode LSC-1213 -- More Projects »
Texans Tim and Michelle love getting together with friends for food and fun – after all, one of their first dates was a jaunt to a major chili cookoff. But their friends have to love swingsets and trampolines if they want to have fun in this backyard. Tim and Michelle have a $30,000 budget to create a grownup entertainment space they can enjoy with friends and still share with their young daughters. Rising to this Texas-sized design challenge are Randy Phillips, Tim May and Kerry Burt.

Before: Itty Bitty Barbecue Space
Tim loves to fire up the grill – but this tiny concrete patio is barely large enough for him and his modest-sized barbecue. He and Michelle are both tired of jostling each other when they cook outdoors, not to mention seating their family and guests around a table on the grass.
