Many plants, herbs in particular, require good drainage. Make this happen by inverting the container the plant comes in and using it as a pedestal for the plant in a larger pot (see photo). After repotting the plant, the pedestal will provide the plant with great drainage and keep the roots from rotting when water settles at the bottom of the pot.
