Cacti are easy to care for, and they won't be crying out for water very often.

Gardening expert Ardith Beveridge explains how to grow cacti in the home. Tips
- Cacti containers should be shallow. Use half-pots, which are also known as pans. These are usually about three to six inches deep. If using a galvanized container, be sure to put in a liner before planting cacti. Terra-cotta containers work well because they absorb excess water.
- Cacti need to be watered only every two to three months. Ask about care and watering requirements at the garden center when purchasing cacti.
