  • Put some plants in the drawers of an old jewelry chest (figure A). Be sure to put down a plastic liner first.

  • A teapot is another great idea. Place a small plant in the teapot and cover it with moss (figure B). This makes for a great display in your home or even a gift.

  • Along those same lines, you can put a plant in a mug (figure C).

  • A quick idea for a table decoration is to take an existing plant in your home and put it in a cookie jar (figure D). Place something in the bottom to prop it up to the brim if it is not tall enough on its own.

  • Use compotes that work well for displaying plants. Various sizes, shapes and colors make for a unique centerpiece or accessory.

  • Metal is also a great decorative tool (figure E), but be sure to line it with plastic beforehand.

  • Place rocks from your backyard in the bottom of a tall pot or container to bring the plant up to the right height (figure F). You could also use a tin can as the container.

  • Reverse proportion is fun way to put together a display or centerpiece. A good example of this technique is selecting a small plant to go inside a tall container (figure G). It makes for an interesting look or conversation piece.

  • Wrap a plant in moss to conceal the dirt (figure H) when creating display with a large glass container.
