Plants can be arranged in complementary groupings to add a sense of calm and tranquility, and a thoughtfully chosen container can help carry the theme. Here, a spider plant, pothos and money tree combine interesting heights, leaf shape and color to spruce up a corner.
Almost nothing can transform a bare corner faster than plants. The graceful shapes of thriving green plants add serenity as well as texture and color to any decorating scheme. Some wonderful varieties to try, either individually or in groups, include:

  • Pseudosasa japonica--a member of the bamboo family, this plant requires moderate light
  • Japanese auralia--needs partial sun
  • Spider plant--indirect sun and moist soil
  • Pothos--indirect sun, moist soil
  • Money tree--indirect sun and moist soil
  • Chinese evergreen--indirect sun and moist soil
