The Rocky Mountains

Winter Gardener : Episode TWG-115 -- More Projects »
Horticulturist and design expert Lauren Springer has overcome some tough gardening obstacles such as heavy snow and wildlife intrusions to create a truly impressive landscape high in the rural foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Springer uses natural structures to provide protection for plants and blends her garden into the natural terrain with a combination of low-growing alpine plants and a vast array of other varieties from around the world. Springer is best known for her book, The Undaunted Garden, a valuable resource on weather-resilient plants. She has also designed several vistas at the Denver Botanic Gardens and manages about 15,000 bulbs in her own "undaunted garden" in her spare time.
