Front Exterior
Dream Home 2005
With its wide, ambling steps, sweeping front porch and circular greeting area, this ultramodern Texas lake house offers a warm invitation to come on in and stay awhile. The front of Dream Home 2005 is another casual living space, exuding laid-back Texas charm where one can receive guests and send them off comfortably.
Approaching from the front, this 6,000-square-foot beauty stands tall among the Texas pines. The tall chimney and soaring bunkhouse tower aim for the sky while the front porch reaches wide, with the big cedar pillars and stone floor giving Dream Home a built-to-last appeal. Architect Antonio Flamenco had specific ideas about the front of the home.
"The important thing about the entry porch," says Flamenco, "is the idea of a long shallow step...a lazy approach to the front porch. Thats laid back, Texas attitude." He notes the three sets of 10-foot-tall French doors in particular, allowing access to the great room from any area of the front porch. "The front porch is really another living space. We have a front porch that opens up to the neighborhood."
Enhancing the front porch is a sitting area with cushy rattan chairs perfect for a quiet rest. The chairs can be positioned to admire the neighborhood, or your new Dream Home. Adding both flair and a farmhouse appeal is the barn-red Honeymoon Suite cabin. A meandering walkway brings you to the front steps or wraps you around to the two-car garage and ground-level terrace in the back.
"We knew we had to do something to put a face on the front of this house," says landscape architect Alan King. "So we produced this large welcoming court where you can receive your guests as well as see them off in a comfortable space."So your interest is piqued? See much more about Dream Home 2005 here.
