In a Dream Home filled with firsts is this web-lover's paradise: the E-library. Featuring not one, not two, but three web stations, everyone in the family can have access to the Internet, which means lots of harmonious surfing. This room also serves as central command for the various computer systems that make Dream Home 2005 the smartest home built to date.

"We've taken a traditional study and turned it into so much more," says house planner Jack Thomasson, "by adding all of the elements in today's technology...this room can be used for kids doing homework, adults doing research..." By wiring this study for an Internet experience everyone can share in, plus filling the room with handsome shelving, builder Bill Mahaffey went above and beyond to create a space that can be fully utilized.

"The 'smart home' features of the house are really, really neat," says Mahaffey. "Everything in the house is integrated. The lighting, the video, audio, the security is integrated...into one system." Through IQ Home Systems custom installation, Dream Home 2005 has an integrated network that brings all electronic systems in the home under one-touch control.

"There's basically a small desktop-like screen," says Mahaffey, "that you can carry around the house with you and control audio, lighting, security...You can turn lights on and off in different rooms. You can turn on music in different rooms. You can even (control) a camera in the E-library to make sure your kids are doing their homework." This capability can of course be used anywhere you'd like a camera: the baby's room, the front door, by the dockhouse or wherever you might choose.
