Cedar House
Special Presentation : Episode HMBH1-S03 -- More Projects »
This environmentally-friendly home proves that green living and great design make one beautiful combination. This Virginia home is an architectural marvel built for a couple who wanted a luxurious and livable home rooted to the land. It's a feat of architecture that takes the concept of the open floor plan to new heights. The large space is broken up into smaller ones with distinct styles that flow seamlessly together. From the rich wood of the paneled library, to an airy balcony, to a dining room with a view--it's a ground-breaking design complete with an eclectic blend of European, Japanese and American styles.
The kitchen is surrounded by the landscape--a wall of windows and openings near the ceiling make for a unique cooking and dining experience. The space is also part of the green design with low-emission finishes on many of the materials. Japanese style takes center stage in the master bath with natural materials and a neutral palette.
