Originally built in 1938 as an entertainment pavilion for the house next door, designer Alison Spear breathed new life into an old Miami construction with a huge injection of color. Filled with life and art, its the perfect example of the quirky personality of both the designer and the homeowners. More light was brought in through glass-fronted doors and folding doors in the living room that instantly turn the space into an open sunroom.
The white cabinets and striped floor in the kitchen are set against candy-colored light fixtures for a bold contrast of hues. Fields of marigolds seen in the movie Monsoon Wedding inspired the colorful palette in the main guest bedroom. Taxicab yellow walls are the backdrop for patchwork saris suspended from wire. This very flowery, very Florida home even comes complete with its very own motel-themed guest rooms.
