Love Letters
Kitty Bartholomew: You're Home : Episode KIT-1213 -- More Projects »
There's nothing more romantic than love letters. Using vinyl letters, Wall Words owner Carrol Caldwell shows clever and simple ways to decorate walls, lampshades, pillows and mirrors with a bit of whimsy where it's least expected.
Wooden letters add a three-dimensional element to a design. They can be purchased at craft stores, usually unpainted. The letters in this room were painted and embellished with sparkles. When combined with the luminous fabric, they set the mood for an elegant sleeping space.
If you've got great handwriting, try your hand at painting a phrase over a special room, like a wine cellar or library.
Create fun accessories with fabric paint. Apply the paint directly onto the fabric using a stamp or thin-tipped applicator. Iron the fabric to set the design. Embellish with buttons and trinkets to coordinate with the phrase.
Attach a vinyl letter directly onto a lampshade for instant decorating gratification.
Decorate an entire wall with a meaningful phrase. This phrase looks handpainted but is actually vinyl lettering. Transparent vinyl phrases are also available for windows and mirrors.
