House Beautiful Guest Bedroom

Designer Kathryn Ireland created a fantasy bed and bath in the House Beautiful show home using an abundance of contemporary red toile fabric she designed herself. She upholstered the walls with a layer of padding underneath and trimmed it out with an identical welt. Matching curtains create a seamless look. Since the drama of the background called for something large-scale, she brought in a checkerboard fabric on the headboard, dust ruffle and bench at the foot of the bed. To keep the palette simple, she painted the wood floor white to match the cabinetry. Tortoise bamboo side tables are among only a few pieces that deviate from the red-and-white theme.
