Designer Jackie Terrell combined the old with the new for a surprising retro look in the multipurpose laundry room in the House Beautiful show home. She started by choosing a reddish orange linoleum for the floor, then built upon it with a colorful palette of chartreuse, citrus orange and a touch of aqua along the back wall. The washer and dryer are hidden from view underneath a skirted wall-to-wall countertop (above, left). A large round table in the center provides a spot to arrange flowers or work on crafts. The space has plenty of storage with wall-to-wall cabinets with pull-out doors. The cutouts in the doors are visually appealing and create a sleek, linear look along the wall (above, middle). Opposite the cabinets is a basin sink with a stainless surround (above, right). Shelves above provide ample storage and display space.
