Ontreal Evans-King wanted to keep her bedroom light and airy plus incorporate many of her country pieces into the space. But for her husband's sake, she didn't want to make it too feminine. Her solution was to begin with a white palette with black accents and work from there.

The first thing she did was change the bed--she found a stylish black iron bed, an ideal piece on which to build the new look. She found accents in bold colors with striking lines to solidify the his/her design. A hooked rug with a black background hangs over the bed and a couple of hooked pillows, also with a black background, continue the bold palette.

A design trick Ontreal used to make the room feel more spacious is an extra window cut into the wall next to the attic. It functions like a door instead of a window and the back is covered with opaque lace.
