Paint Technique: Falling Leaves

Room by Room : Episode RXR-1711 -- More Projects »
PHOTO

Add a touch of nature with a subtle stamp that creates a falling leaf appearance.
Materials:

wall paint (satin finish Getaway Green SW1174 plus the same color in semi-gloss for stamping)
leaf stamps
foam brushes
paper towels or newspapers

Steps:

Note: If you have a room as big as the one featured, purchase at least two stamps of each design because they need to be washed periodically so a duplicate stamp will keep the project moving. If desired, create a sample board to perfect the technique before stamping the walls.

1. Brush the semi-gloss paint over the stamp and blot any excess on paper towels or newspaper. Apply the design to the wall (one application will usually give at least two clear impressions). Start with one leaf design and try to spread it evenly across the wall.
2. Repeat the process with another leaf design. It looks nice to have some of the stamps very close together and other areas where the stamps are few and far between--just like what you would see in nature.
