Create a whimsical tack board covered in a coordinating fabric for notes and pictures.
Moon-Shaped Tack Board

Materials:

fiberboard (available at lumber yards)
fabric
staple gun
jigsaw
latex primer
paintbrush
tacks
picture hangers
hammer

Steps:

1. Cut the fiberboard into the desired moon shape using a jigsaw. Seal the board with primer and let dry.
2. Cover the board with the fabric and staple it in place on the back.
3. Secure picture hangers to the back for hanging.

Turn plywood into a magnet board with paint for special keepsakes.
Star-Shaped Magnet Board

Materials:

3/4" plywood
jigsaw
pencil
scrap paper
router with round-over bit
sandpaper
magnetic paint
paintbrushes
paint for top coat
picture hangers
hammer
magnets

Steps:

1. Draw a star template on paper (the edges are rounded for more decorative surface area) and transfer the design onto plywood. Cut it out using a jigsaw.
2. Use a router with a round-over bit to create a decorative edge. Sand as necessary and remove the dust.
3. Apply magnetic paint as directed and let dry thoroughly between coats.
4. Apply the desired top coat paint and let dry.
5. Secure picture hangers to the back for hanging.
