Teen Girl's Contemporary Bedroom Makeover

• The walls are painted a vibrant shade of yellow and the window is highlighted with stripes on either side in a light and dark yellow and circles in two shades of blue.
  
• The circle theme is repeated in each corner and stenciled with a design that represents the four seasons.
  
• The bright yellow window valance is made out of car-polishing cloths stitched together and accented with red buttons.
  
• The new bed frame is made from bunk bed head and footboards. The two footboards are turned upside down and attached to the headboards with wood screws. This provides the necessary height to slide a trundle bed underneath. The dust ruffle is extended with a sheet stitched at the hem.
  
• The dressers receive a fresh coat of blue paint and the mirror is updated with silk daisies hot-glued in the corners.
  
• The plastic pink clock is painted white and mounted to layers of painted fiberboard circles painted in coordinating colors for an art-deco look.
  
• Old water skis are put to good use as storage and display shelves. Cross-country skis are used to frame a cork board. The pegs are handles from the ski poles. All of the pieces are attached with screws.
  
• The closet door handles are made out of dowel rod and ski rope.
  
• Blue place mats add color to the top of the dresser, a red picnic basket is used to hold hairbrushes and ribbons and a relish tray makes a great divider for hair clips.

Steps:

1. Spray-paint plastic clock rim white.
   
2. Cut out different sized circle shapes from fiberboard.
   
3. Paint each a coordinating color to match the room and attach with screws from the back.
   
4. Hang clock in the center of the piece and hang on the wall.

Steps:

1. Decoupage the skis with personal mementos.
   
2. Cut Plexiglas to create small shelves to fit the width of one ski (or have it cut at a hardware store).
   
3. Cut out five channels on the ski thick enough to hold the Plexiglas.
   
4. Attach the shelves with epoxy.
   
5. On a separate ski, attach a plastic CD rack to the back of the ski with screws.
