Less purist, more peasant was the style that Julie and Tim McGlynn had in mind when they asked designer Bruce Kading, ASID, CID, to help them create a casual home that would encompass the best of European country design.

The floors came from a warehouse in Virginia and the texture on the walls was created with tinted plaster and glaze. The massive stone fireplace is a reproduction of a photo Tim had in his design file. The cross-hatch design inside the firebox replicates the look found in old European homes. The dining area is defined with dark paneled walls and a grid pattern trellis above.
