In country design, cozy, little nooks come with their own special pleasures. But, truthfully, decorating a very small space can sometimes be a challenge. Experts share advice for decorating and living in a small-space home.

  • Pay attention to the scale of the furnishings. Choose pieces that are comfortable and functional and allow plenty of room for movement.
  • Display collectibles on wall shelves or in cabinets to keep the space de-cluttered.
  • Utilize baskets under beds and tables to keep toys, papers, magazines, etc. from getting underfoot.
  • Add detail to walls and accessories for interest. Texturize walls with a plaster or faux treatment and embellish lampshades with beads and fabric to divert attention away from the size of the room.
