Irina Pantaeva: At Work

Born in Ulan-Ude, on the banks of Lake Baikal in Siberia, Irina Pantaeva inherited a love of the arts from her family. She traveled to New York in 1994 and became a fashion industry sensation, appearing in ad campaigns for Levis Jeans and Gap and in magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. Pantaeva has also worked in television and film alongside some well-known Hollywood actors and directors, including Woody Allen, Ben Stiller and Al Pacino. Author of an autobiographical book called Siberian Dream, Pantaeva has been published in Australian Vogue and Travel & Leisure, where she’s written on the subjects of filmmaking, travel and fashion.

Irina Pantaeva: At Home

In 1995, Irina Pantaeva and her husband, Roland Levin, moved into a modern two-bedroom apartment in Manhattan. Together they redid the tilework in both bathrooms, then started decorating the main rooms of the apartment. In the living room, caramel-colored leather furnishings help create a peaceful mood, and a large wall unit, designed by Levin, offers lots of display and storage space. The master bedroom is a different story: that’s where Pantaeva put plenty of bright color!

Irina Pantaeva loves the clean, sleek lines of the light brown leather sofa, purchased in Soho. An adjustable faux pony chaise is the most coveted seat in the house.

The bright colors in the bedroom reflect Pantaeva’s dreams. "When I wake up, I don’t want to wake up in black and white," she says.
