Trash to Treasure: Plant Stands, Coffee Table, Candleholders, Bar Stool
Decorating Cents : Episode DCT-1601 -- More Projects »
Turn standard shutters into interesting plant stands. Purchase two sets of shutters (to make two plant stands). Nail each set together and top with a piece of leftover wood (rout the edge for a more decorative look). Add a square board to the bottom of each for stability. Whitewash the top and bottom piece for contrast.
Create an interesting table using an old shadow box. Build a box frame for the base and trim with old molding. Attach a board over the top of the frame with screws and whitewash. Attach the shadow box to the board, fill the compartments with decorative items and top with a piece of glass.
Illuminate a room with quirky pipe candleholers. Drill a hole in the back of a piece of molding; cut off part of the pipe. Insert a wooden peg into the hole and the pipe itself to hold it in place. Insert a candle in the pipe.
Pair an old bar stool base with a Windsor chair (remove the chair legs) for a interesting swiveling seat.
