Add color to your wood floor with a stenciled design.

Materials:

oil-based stain
stencil
sandpaper
stencil brush
painter's tape

Steps:

  1. Lightly sand the area to be stenciled.
  2. Position stencil on the floor and secure with tape.
  3. Dip stencil brush into the oil-based stain and rub over the design (figure A). Apply two or more layers of the stain depending on the depth of color you are trying to achieve. Allow to dry.
  4. If your floors have been finished with an oil product, protect the stenciled design with an oil-based sealer. If your floors have been finished with a urethane, seal the design with a coat of urethane.
