Pictures of flowers glued to textured paper are outlined with a fine point black pen to give the look of an etching.
Ann Sundet shows Joan Steffend how to make inexpensive decoupage etchings.

Steps:

  1. Start with a lovely, textured paper, like rice paper, for the background.
  2. Using a large stamp that looks like cursive writing, stamp the background paper with black ink. When inking the stamp, apply the ink pad to the stamp, rather than placing the stamp on the ink pad. This will avoid any ink getting in between the lines of writing on the stamp.
  3. Select colorful images from books or magazines and cut them out.
  4. Apply them to the stamped background with spray adhesive.
  5. Use a fine point black pin to draw lines in the shadows of the figure.
