Designer Nadia Ramirez joins host Joan Steffend to transform a guest room into a baby girl's nursery using dainty wall coverings and fabrics, handpainted accessories and creative storage solutions. Luckily, the space has good "bones," like hardwood floors and crisp white trim. First, three of the walls are painted light green and the fourth wall receives a pretty pink wall covering. More pink is supplied in the heart-and-rose dust ruffle and pink sheets. Reversible cafe-style window curtains are attached to brass rods with chartreuse ribbon threaded through grommets. A purchased tab top panel with pockets hangs from one wall, providing a space for stuffed animals, socks or mittens. Ramirez handpaints an unfinished bench and shelf peg rack with whimsical designs in pastel colors. Ceramic knobs are attached to the back of the bench to provide a space for small jackets and sweaters. A dollhouse storage cabinet is created from a simple bookcase, finished with double-hinged doors and a creative cubby with a pull-down door on top. The room is complete with precious accessories, like a sweet-smelling sachet, rose petals and handpainted and decoupaged wood plaques.
