Decoupage on a Large Scale

Country Style : Episode COS-313 -- More Projects »
In a weekend, flea-market furnishings can be transformed into eye-catching items using wallpaper and paint. Carol Sheehan, editor-in-chief of Country Home magazine, shares how to use wallpaper, old paper and other ephemera to decoupage and redecorate a bureau, cupboard and side table.

Tip: Make color copies of journal pages, stamps, botanicals, etc., in order to preserve the originals.

Figure B
  • Cover an old tabletop and frame with decoupaged journal pages and old stamps (figure A).
  • Line the inside of a cabinet with pages reproduced out of an antique botanical textbook. (Be sure the book is over 100 years old in order to avoid copyright infringement.)
  • Use wallpaper remnants to revive a flea-market dresser (figure B). Cut the pieces so that the pattern lines up. Use a coordinating paper on the top, if desired.
