Follow these tips for cleaning votive candles:
  • Before putting a votive candle in a holder, pour a small amount of water in the bottom. It will keep the melted wax from sticking, making it easy to pull the remaining candle out.
  • Use tea lights in votive holders for a no-mess candle.
  • Place a candlestick with wax dripped on it in the freezer for a few minutes. The wax will become hard and brittle and can then be easily cracked and removed. Use hot water to remove the rest. This trick also works for wax that has dripped onto linens.
