Video: Add an interesting layer to a window treatment by sewing a valance made to look like a Roman shade.
Materials:

fabric
lining
tape measure
iron
2" x 2" board
L-brackets
hook and loop tape

Steps:

1. Lay out the main fabric and space the folds as desired. Pin them in place (figure A) and sew them in using the blind hem stitch.

2. Cut the lining to size and pin it to the right side of the folded fabric. Sew along the edges, leaving an opening for turning along the top. Turn valance right side out.
3. Secure hook and loop tape to the valance top and a 2x2, and then mount the board above the window casing with L-brackets (figure B).
