Mount a new or used snowboard to a cornice to create an unexpected window treatment that can actually be used during ski season!
Materials:

3/4" plywood
screws
drill
snowboard
L-brackets
2 bumper pads
2 large screw eyes
2 plastic wire ties
drywall screws

Steps:

1. Make a cornice board with an open bottom to the specifications of the window (the featured one is a couple inches wider than the outside window casing and extends out from the wall far enough to allow room for the pleated shade to function). The front face of the cornice is narrower than the width of the snowboard so it's hidden behind it (figure A).

2. Prime and paint the cornice as desired.

3. Attach two L-brackets with bumper pads to the bottom edge of the cornice to hold one long side of the snowboard in place (figure B). Add two screw eyes to the opposite long edge of the cornice in line with the front of both boot bindings, and then use a plastic wire tie to attach the binding to the screw eye, which will hold the entire snowboard in place (figure C).

4. Attach L-brackets to the wall next to the outer window casing and even with the top casing. Set the cornice board on and adjust its position as necessary. Once satisfied, attach two drywall screws through the wall L-brackets into the top of the cornice.
