Make a unique window valance using picket fencing for the garden and a few decorative embellishments.
Materials

picket fence trim (found at home or gardening stores)
brackets for hanging
4 one-inch brackets
hot glue gun
paint (optional)
silk vine
silk flowers

Steps:

  1. Measure length of your window. (The featured window measured 36 inches. The picket fence trim is 36 inches in length.)
  2. Measure the length of the side pieces of trim from front panel to the wall. Cut pieces of fence using a circular saw to fit.
  3. The excess wood on the side should be left on the front panel as shown.
  4. Hot glue the pieces together and then attach at a 90-degree angle with angle brackets.
  5. Repeat for opposite side of the cornice.
  6. Decorate with a silk vine and silk flowers by intertwining it through the fence trim.
