  • Add colored stencils for a fun look (figure A).

  • Add any type of decorative trim such as tassels to the bottom.

  • To keep your privacy but add a little light to a room, use a decorative hole punch to make a unique design or pattern on the shade (figure B).

  • Large stamps also work well (figure C).

  • Make your own shade with a kit from a fabric or crafts store.

  • Paint it with latex paint. Try adding texture with sponges, drags or rollers for an added flair.
